High heels suck

Thursday, 30th October 2008

The past couple of weeks have been such a blur! A couple of weekends ago, we went to our niece Megan’s Christening in Yorkshire. It was a very small event with five adults and four children, and we had a big church all to ourselves which was really lovely - special and cosy. Megan is such a beautiful baby!

After the Christening we went back to James’ sister’s house for food and photos. James was the official photographer for the event – his first professional shoot! I was his ‘assistant’ which basically involved me standing around with a reflector! It’s probably weird of me but I enjoy things like that. I like someone to tell me what to do and to know that what I’m doing is useful even if it’s easy. James got some really good shots of the family (he’s dying to blog them but hasn’t had a chance yet) and it gave us both good practice as we also have a wedding booked in January (how cool is that?!). The biggest lesson I learnt was not to wear heels - I had forgotten how much high heels suck. Ouch.

When we got home from the Christening, I had only five days to finish my decorating before James’ mum and sister visited us. I actually managed to do it! I’m so proud of myself and I absolutely love the wallpaper I chose. The only thing we need now is a carpet, and eventually we’ll get a new fireplace when we can afford it (ha!).

This week, since my ordeal, I’ve been taking it easy! I’ve learnt through my panic attacks that I need to give myself a lot of time to get over stressful events. It seems to take me ages to come to terms with things sometimes. So I’ve been watching telly, drinking tea, hugging Jodie and enjoying the house being so tidy after all the weeks of decorating mayhem. Everything is in its place for once and I can walk through a room without bashing myself on a random piece of furniture. My only current complaint is that it is FREEEEZING!!!!
