Flip-flops
As I bask in the glorious sunshine, in the quiet of my own back garden, I chuckle to myself when I think of what my day could have been like if I had stayed in Edinburgh, stuck in the middle of pre-tram mayhem.
I complained about winter this year because it was too cold for too long, but in the past I have enjoyed winter more than summer. Warm weather normally means disabling hay fever for me. Hay fever can ruin everything. As well as experiencing all the obvious symptoms, it also makes me feel very lethargic which isn’t great when I want to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. Last Friday, I was struck down by some serious hay fever, and I spent the whole weekend worrying about how bad it was going to be this year. But it’s nowhere to be seen today so I’ve been making the most of it.
This morning, I dug out my flip-flops, put some sun cream on, and headed outside to let my hair dry in the sun (thank god there’s no-one around to see my crazy curls). I put my washing out and it’s dry already. I can enjoy the heat when I don’t have to sit on a bus or in an office, when I can wear comfortable clothes instead of office clothes, and when my hay fever just miraculously disappears. I just feel guilty about all the housework that I haven’t done today.

I’ll be there in half an hour. Put the kettle on.

Well, the housework will be there tomorrow…and you *need* to take advantage of such a nice day!
